I just got done reading palms at the Bastille Days festival in Milwaukee, and I had a blast. The loud music that I had to shout over for 4 days wasn't all that much fun, but other than that, it was great.

I saw a lot of similarities in the palms of good friends (e.g. three girls, all with water hands, came up for a reading together) as well as relatives (mother and daughter, both with similar earth hands). I also saw some cool stuff, like a woman with a doubled/broken life line - the first life line ran parallel to the second for years, but the first one ended and the second one kept on going. She said she had actually died once and was revived. Now that was cool to see in her palm!

Anyway, I just felt like sharing here. With the 12-hour days and the loud music, I don't think I'd want to do this every day, but it was fun to read all those palms and meet all those people.

:coolAll the water hand women flocking together huh?

I bet that was an interesting expererience, I have never done a festival before, but I am considering it if I can escape the family for a few hours.

Hope it was enlightening experience for you and welcome back.

Oh yeah! And the great thing about the water hand women is that they're usually pretty cute :wink . Hey what can I say, I'm a single 20-something lol. How could I not notice?

Ha ha ha ha!  Now you know my secret.  I love to do events because I get to hold hands with so many nice gentlemen!

Den!  I'm surprised you haven't been out there experiencing one of these things!  Great energy and a real feeling of helping others.  It's tough to keep it short and NOT examine detail when you are used to it..and sometimes the fine print is worth reading!

Random Romeo, how was that for you?  Did you have a set time limit for your readings?  Did you keep fairly busy throughout the fair?  Tomorrow night I'm volunteering readings at the Relay for Life and they want me to squish in as many in an hour as I can (I was really busy at this event last year).  It's good because I can always hand out my cards and fliers but still, I feel lke people deserve the very best reading possible.  A dilemna.

Hugs to all and congrats Random on your fantastic fair!

Hi Karla, good to feel your positive energy. I have fairly limited time because of all these little kids and my crazy job:), but I will get out there some this year. I always have somebody that wants a read, or another look at the hands; sometimes wish they would forget about it so I can enjoy the party when the wife does let me out.

Would be nice to get paid for it every now and then in a setting like that.:cool

Yeah, I found it hard to keep it short sometimes. It wasn't so much of a problem when I didn't have a line of people, but the money takers had to ask me to keep the readings a bit shorter. The festival kind of had an ebb and flow to it, so it was pretty slow during the day and pretty busy at night. Aside from the first day, when it rained and I didn't have signs set up or anything like that, I was averaging about a dozen readings a day.

Anyway, I've got a party that I'm reading for on Saturday, so we'll see how that goes. It's a sweet 16 party, so I'll be surrounded by kiddies who probably think I'm a teenager myself (I've got that youthful appearance going for/against me).

I'd type more, but one of the kittens just curled up on my left arm :). Life is good.

Den, exactly how many kids DO you have?  You make it sound like a herd!  I have 3... 18, 16 and 13 now.  One of the best times I had was volunteering at the elementary school for Halloween Fun Night and reading only PARENTS.  I think I charged 5 bucks for mini readings and I met so many nice parents and they loved being able to do something while the kids ran around and spent their money at the carnival games.  Handing out fliers and cards was easy and there were people lined up AFTER they were taking down the booths to go home!  Likewise, there are opportunites for other kid-related festivals....sports fund-raisers and family events in the community.  Granted, my 13 year old thinks I'm really weird now for doing this so she pretends I don't and I have to keep it low key or she rolls her eyes.  Probably won't be volunteering at the middle school!!

Bye!  Gotta go pack my palmistry gear.  Woo hoo! can't wait to read all those fresh, lovely hands!

Hi Karla, actually my wife and I have 5 little kids; 7,5,3,3,3...

:coolI spend more time wiping off dirty hands than reading them these days. I practice the hand reading at night after everyone goes to bed; I do them for friends and referrals from friends; fairly low key.

Ahhh.  Yes, definitely a herd.  How lucky you are!  Truly blessed and challenged at the same time!  Perhaps when the triplets reach grade school you'll have an opportunity since the others will be older.  I cant' imagine doing this when all of mine were wee ones..I had two stepsons then as well so there were 5..all I did was laundry!  The nice thing about studying, though is learning about ourselves, family and friends in the process.  Perhaps this is your time to receive the information and your time to share will be coming!  You certainly share a great deal here and we are all grateful for you insight and comments..wonderful!

Ahh hand reading at festivals! When I get better at palmistry that is something I definately want to do a lot. A big festival lover myself, I know that there are a lot of interesting people at festivals so I imagine, a lot of interesting hands too. Plus it's the kind of thing that has the perfect vibe for readings to take place. I can't wait!

If anyone has got anymore festival stories, please do share  :thumbup.

Den,,,, THREE three year olds!!! ....and you still have time to do Life Purpose analysis?!Karla put it well ...you are Truly blessed and challenged at the same time!

I love working at fairs and festivals, but at the same time I almost dread it! Like Random Violin Guy said, it's a blast but I wouldn't want to do it every day. It is hard work! You often have to do a crazy number of readings just to earn your stall fee back. I end up hoarse, exhausted and brain dead, but always feel I've had "an experience" :-) They can be such fun too, you meet great people, and I usually see some very unusual hands.

Most years since mid 90's I work at the local annual "Quest" "alternative health" mind body spirit fair. One year I got so engrossed in my final reading of the day, the client & I found ourselves locked into the hall, everyone else had gone! we were banging on the glass doors but no one could hear us cos of the music in the marquee outside!! ...eventually the organiser came to our rescue :-)

Last year we spent all day setting up our outside stand, shared with friends who do various therapies & readings, including didgeridoo healing  http://www.akasha4energyandwisdom.com/home.htmThat night our stall blew down & was destroyed in the wind & rain, we salvaged what we could, hauled our stuff thru the mud at midnight to the shelter of the indoor hall, and spent half the next day setting up another tent outside and a stall inside for readings. The other stall holders were so helpful and friendly, the spirit of "Quest" really shone thru and saved the weekend for us! Tho at the time I wished I was just a visitor and had time to enjoy the various talks, therapies, music etc with no hassles!!!

for anyone who's interested, there's a (poor quality, but gives you an idea of the event) video of Quest 2006 here (scroll down to bottom of page) http://www.quest.newtonabbot.org/

(edit) PS like Karla & RV guy I have the dilemma about length of readings & pressure put on you by event organisers. Some events insist you do "short taster readings", but I won't compromise too much, I never do less than 30 min readings at fairs, and still feel I am short-changing them. My readings at home are 1 - 3 hours.

just re-read this thread, re Random Violin Guy's post of 17th (are you willing to share your name, Random Violin Guy is so long to type! :-) ) I wish I had youthful looks on my side :-) Would love to see a pic of the kittens just so I can go aawww. My son's a teacher, he was trying to post a serious video on youtube for his students on techniques for passing English GCSE exams, but his kitten kept jumping on him & standing in front of the webcam :-)

PS How did your fair go Karla?

Relay for Life was awesome.  Just a wonderful event with such positive, forward moving energy.  I loved the "Survivor's Lap" where all the folks who have conquered cancer or are dealing with it walked around the track together.  Some held hands and marched proudly and some had canes and wheelchairs so it was probably a long circuit for them. Old, young..some still sporting their no-hair look from chemo.  All were smiling so beautifully!  After the cermonial laps, I had no time to enjoy anything but all the PALMS.  My goodness, what a crowd!  I went non-stop doing 10-15 minute readings for 3 1/2 hours.  Lost my voice and my fingertips were numb from the chilly evening air and from holding my hands UP for that long.  It's interesting to read the hands of cancer patients and see the evidence of the broken skin ridges, even when one is in remission.  My job that night was to offer as many positive comments as I could and hold their lovely hands and be able to really see the features that made them special.  I had several repeat clients from last year's fair and I loved my hugs!  So nice to see them all doing well and coming back to support the American Cancer Society.  I loved one woman's comments.  She had been in the hospital a couple times since I saw her last but man, was she looking forard to dancing with the band laer that evening!!  That's the kind of attitude I hope to have if anything ever happens healthwise!!

Oh, another thing I noticed was the caregivers of the cancer patients seemed to share a couple features.  Leaning Jupiter to Saturn fingertips and an additional fate line starting later in life above the head or heart line and running towards Saturn but nearer to Jupiter than Apollo.  I took those marks to indicate responsibilty and a "job" that was all about doing the right thing.   Every one I saw like this I asked if they were caring for someone and they said yes.  Interesting.  I had noticed that extra fate line in older folks who volunteer alot, too.  In addition to a regular job and after retirement.

All in all a fantastic and inspiring evening!  AND a beautiful full moon!!

Thanks for sharing your experience Lynn!  Wow!  Sounded like a real adventure losing your booth!  I understand what you mean about getting lost in a reading also..I had no concept of anything else around me but the hand I was holding.  It actually got dar and people brought me a lantern and candles and I have no idea how that happened!  Ha ha ha!  Over focused!!

Ah! Memories of sore throats, croaky voices, underpaid readings & over-priced stall fees!

In the early nineties I was on tour around the eastern Australian states, for most of the years. Reading in little country fairs and so-called large psychic fairs which were little more than a traveling psychic's circus.

Getting lost in the readings was the best part - apart from meeting the clients of course - the money disappeared down the travelling expenses and rent trap.

That all being said, I wouldn't trade the experiences for anything.
